Business – Pinterest boards get infused with Dailymotion videos

Video site Dailymotion has added support for Pinterest, thus making user videos available for play on various pin boards, the company told VentureBeat today.

Anyone that’s used to adding videos on Pinterest is probably familiar with the functionality whenever a YouTube or Vimeo video has been added to a board. However, I found that adding a Dailymotion video to be slightly better, in part because you were able to chose the thumbnail that appears on your pinboard using a handful of random screenshots from the video itself. (See screenshot above for an example.)

“We’re reaching out to partners such as Wall Street Journal, Howdini and Sports Illustrated to collaborate on promotion of their content on Pinterest,”  said Dailymotion VP of content Neil Gladstone in an interview with VentureBeat. He added that the Pinterest support, which launched late last week, is already bringing in traffic to the site and increasing video views.

“We’ve noticed a large concentration of usage for Pinterest among our global audience in UK, Germany, France, India and Australia, and spikes around content such as DIY, how-to, recipes and entertainment,” Gladstone said.

Dailymotion has over 12 million monthly visitors and 2.5 billion monthly views. The company, which is based in France, has recently been in the news regarding a rumored sale to Yahoo.
